ON THE TIP — A WORD GAME BY LOREM LLC

Privacy & Support

LAST UPDATED — 13 JULY 2026

On the Tip is made by lorem LLC. This policy describes what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it — written against the app's actual data flows, not a template.

01

The short version

On the Tip has no accounts. We never ask for your name, email, or phone number, and we could not tell you who you are if we tried. The app shows ads to stay free, and it counts how the game is played so we can make it better. That's it.

02

What the app stores on your device

Your best streak, your daily-challenge streak, whether you muted the sounds, whether you opted into reminders, and when you last saw an ad. This never leaves your phone and disappears if you delete the app.

03

What the app sends to our server

When you make a guess, we send the guess and an anonymous ID for the puzzle, and the server tells us whether you were right. We do this because the answers are not stored in the app — that is how the game avoids being trivially spoiled. We keep no record of who guessed what, because there is no “who”: there is no account.

Your IP address is used, briefly, to limit how many requests can come from one place per minute. This is to stop abuse. It is not used to identify you, and it is not stored against any profile.

04

Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how the game is played — how often people solve, when they get stuck, whether they watch an ad for a hint. Each install gets a random, anonymous ID. We do not link that ID to you, we do not share it with anyone, and we do not use it to target advertising. If you delete and reinstall the app, you become a completely new, unrelated ID to us.

05

Ads

We use Google AdMob. Ads are how the game is free.

On iOS, you will be asked once whether On the Tip may track you. This is Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, and your answer changes which ads you see, not whether you see them:

  • If you allow it, Google may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show you more relevant ads, which typically earn more.
  • If you decline — or ignore the prompt, or never see it — we request non-personalized ads only, which is the default in this app until you explicitly say otherwise.

Either way you see the same number of ads. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Google's own handling of ad data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

06

Notifications

Only if you ask for them. The app requests notification permission solely when you tap the reminder toggle — never on launch. You can turn them off in iOS Settings or in the app.

07

Children

On the Tip is not directed at children and is not part of the Kids Category. It is rated 12+ because it shows third-party advertising.

08

Your choices

  • Tracking: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Analytics and on-device data: delete the app. Everything on the device goes with it, and the anonymous analytics ID becomes an orphan we cannot connect to anything, including a future you.

09

Changes

If we change what we collect, we will update this policy and its date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
